Although a shoulder injury will prevent him from competing in the match himself, WWE superstar Seth Rollins is still doing his part to promote this weekend’s massive event. “The Visionary” appeared on ESPN First Take yesterday to hype the upcoming Royal Rumble premium live event. During the segment, Rollins was asked to identify the young stars that casual fans should be paying attention to when they tune in on Saturday.
Rollins wasted no time in listing a specific group of five competitors who he believes are ready to break out: Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, Austin Theory, Je’Von Evans, and Carmelo Hayes. He emphasized that the current roster is stacked with future main eventers who are just waiting for their moment to strike.
Rollins Highlights “Steiner DNA” And “The Bouncy Kid”
Speaking on the state of the roster, Rollins offered high praise for the developmental system that produced many of these names. “WWE is full of extremely incredible young talent right now,” Rollins said. “You look at NXT, which is our developmental brand, and there’s tons of guys who have come through there, myself included, who are ready to take the next step.”
Rollins specifically pointed to Bron Breakker as a standout, noting his lineage. “Bron Breakker’s the first one that jumps off the page. He is one of the Steiner Brothers’ kids, so he’s got that Steiner DNA in him.” He also showed love to Raw’s newest sensation, Je’Von Evans, affectionately describing his high-flying style. “There’s a cat on Raw named Je’Von Evans, the bouncy kid. I love him, I love what he’s doing.” Finally, he acknowledged the current United States Champion on SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes, calling him “incredible.”
The Irony Of Praising “The Vision”
There is a distinct layer of irony in Rollins’ choices. Three of the men he praised—Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, and Austin Theory—are currently members of The Vision, the faction that brutally betrayed Rollins in October and caused the shoulder injury that has sidelined him. Despite the bad blood, Rollins maintained his professionalism, acknowledging their talent objectively. “The cool thing about the Royal Rumble is: it’s meant to make stars. That’s what it’s there for,” he noted.
Of the five names mentioned, Carmelo Hayes is the only one not yet officially confirmed for the Rumble match. Breakker, Paul, Theory, and Evans all declared their entry on Monday Night Raw. With the event taking place this Saturday, January 31, in Saudi Arabia, fans will soon see if one of Rollins’ picks can go the distance and secure a main event spot at WrestleMania.
