Cody Rhodes misses the grind of the old WWE house show schedule—and he’s taking steps to try and bring it back. On the latest episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About?, Rhodes revealed that he recently made a specific pitch to company executives regarding live events.
“I had suggested to them, I said: run one weekend a month, call them house shows… poke the fourth wall a little bit,” Rhodes explained.
Rhodes argued that the current light schedule, while good for health, lacks the “reps” and camaraderie that touring builds. “It’s hard to think you work somewhere if you’re only there a couple of days a week, right?” he noted. He envisions these shows as intimate, advertised experiences where fans might see new talent or experimental matches. “They’re canon, but they’re not… It’s a bit more of a mixed bag.”
His guest, Jey Uso, agreed with the sentiment, stating that he misses wrestling as often as he used to. While WWE currently only runs house shows during international tours and the annual Holiday Tour, Rhodes hopes his pitch could help the roster find a better rhythm.
