At 47 years old, CM Punk knows he is closer to the end of his career than the beginning, but don’t expect a farewell tour anytime soon.
With John Cena recently completing a massive retirement tour, fans have wondered if Punk would follow suit given his age and tenure. Speaking on No Contest Wrestling, Punk praised Cena’s approach as “brilliant” but admitted he isn’t ready to have that conversation for himself.
“With me, I really don’t know. I almost don’t like talking about it because I don’t think it’s going to be anytime soon,” Punk revealed. “The way our business is, I like to keep some things shrouded in secrecy and mystery. We’ll have to wait and see.”
For the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, the reason to stay is simple: he believes he is currently performing at his absolute peak.
“I’m trying to keep myself in one piece because I think I’m on the run of my life and doing the best work I’ve ever done. Why would I want to step away now?”
With a main event match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42 on the horizon, Punk’s “run of his life” shows no signs of slowing down.
