Bron Breakker is officially on the shelf. Dave Meltzer reported in today’s Daily Update that the powerhouse superstar recently underwent surgery for a “serious hernia.” There is currently no confirmed timeframe for his return, leaving his status for the immediate future in doubt.
Breakker Was Originally Planned To Win The Royal Rumble
The injury comes on the heels of a chaotic few weeks for Breakker. He was last seen physically active during the men’s Royal Rumble match, where he entered at number two but was attacked by a masked man—heavily implied to be Seth Rollins—before he could even step in the ring. Although he eventually entered the match, he was quickly eliminated by Oba Femi. An irate Breakker later destroyed the ringside area on Raw, leading to his ejection from the building.
New reports indicate that Breakker’s trajectory was originally much different. He was reportedly slated to win the Royal Rumble match itself. However, shifting plans for WrestleMania 42 led to Roman Reigns taking the victory instead to set up a clash with CM Punk. Now, with a serious injury to recover from, Breakker’s road to the top has hit a major speed bump.
