Professional wrestling legend Ric Flair is attempting to make amends with a dissatisfied fan after a recent Cameo video sparked a viral controversy.
The 16-time World Champion took to social media today to address the backlash surrounding a personalized video message he recorded for a customer named Tina. The issue first gained traction last month when major outlets, including People, reported on a series of negative reviews left on Flair’s Cameo profile. In this specific instance, Tina claimed she spent nearly $1,000 to commission a celebratory video for her brother, Eric, in honor of his upcoming wedding. However, the final product was far from the congratulatory message she had anticipated.
In the video, which appeared to be filmed inside a noisy bar or restaurant, Flair offered unsolicited and cynical advice to the groom. Rather than wishing the couple well, the “Nature Boy” launched into a tirade against the institution of marriage.
“Why would you get married, motherf*cker?” Flair said in the clip. “It’s the worst possible commitment you could do.”
The stark contrast between the steep price tag and the discouraging content of the message led to widespread criticism online. While Flair’s on-screen persona is known for his hard-partying lifestyle and multiple marriages, many felt the video crossed a line given the context of a wedding gift.
This was not the only recent complaint lodged against the Hall of Famer’s Cameo output. Another reviewer detailed a similarly disappointing experience after spending $600 for a video. The customer alleged that Flair appeared to be “blasted out of his mind” during the recording and fumbled the recipient’s name, referring to their father as “Barf” instead of “Buff.” These incidents painted a picture of a legend struggling to deliver the premium experience his price point commanded, leading to a wave of negative publicity.
Flair’s response today sought to rectify the situation with Tina and Eric. Acknowledging the delay in his address, Flair apologized for the lapse and offered a concrete solution. He publicly requested that the customer reach out directly to his lawyer to arrange a full reimbursement for the money spent on the video. The move is seen as an attempt to protect his brand reputation, which has been built over decades of being one of the industry’s most charismatic figures.
Outside of the Cameo drama, Flair has been entangled in a significant legal battle regarding his business ventures. In December 2025, Flair and boxing icon Mike Tyson filed a joint federal lawsuit against the former executives of their cannabis brand partner, Carma HoldCo. The suit alleges that the executives committed fraud and embezzlement, treating the company funds as their “personal piggy bank” and defrauding the sports legends out of millions. The case is currently pending in federal court, adding another layer of complexity to Flair’s start to 2026.
