It is officially WWE Royal Rumble week, and with the event taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the usual rumor mill has been thrown a curveball. Unlike domestic shows where events like WrestleCon bring dozens of former talent into the host city, the international location limits the number of “coincidental” sightings. However, a primer on potential surprises has emerged, shedding light on who might be walking through the curtain at the King Abdullah Financial District.
Several names appear to be locked in for the trip. LA Knight was scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia as of earlier this month, and reports indicate that decorations at the venue imply his participation. Similarly, newly signed powerhouse Royce Keys (formerly Powerhouse Hobbs) is officially under contract. While he was not on the main charter flight with the rest of the roster, it would be a major surprise if he is not brought over for the event. On the women’s side, Tiffany Stratton was listed internally to travel weeks ago according to reports, and NXT standout Sol Ruca is also expected to be present alongside other developmental talent.
Speculation surrounding Chris Jericho remains high, but he is currently still listed on the AEW roster page—usually the primary indicator of a departure. Additionally, a rumor circulating that WWE had trademarked “Judas” has been confirmed as fake. Saraya is technically free after a scheduled convention appearance was moved, but reports place her in the United States as of Wednesday night, making a travel miracle necessary for an appearance. Meanwhile, despite leaving TNA, The IInspiration (Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay) are reportedly not planned for the Rumble.
The injury bug will also keep several stars on the sidelines. Kevin Owens was not medically cleared as of Saturday Night’s Main Event, and Seth Rollins claims he will not be present, a sentiment echoed by internal sources who do not believe he is physically ready. Zoey Stark remains out recovering from an ACL injury, and Michin did not travel due to her own injury status.
