WWE Officials “Blindsided” By Major Roster Moves In Recent “Raid”

The landscape of NXT was drastically altered following the New Year’s Evil special, but not everyone backstage was prepared for the seismic shift. In a move that has been described by insiders as a “raid,” multiple top-tier NXT stars were called up to the main roster simultaneously. While call-ups are a standard part of the developmental cycle, the timing and execution of these specific moves have reportedly caused friction and confusion behind the scenes.

“The Right Hand Didn’t Know What The Left Hand Was Doing”

According to a report from SelfMadePro, the call-ups of Oba Femi, Jordynne Grace, Trick Williams, and Je’Von Evans were executed with very little lead time. The lack of communication between main roster creative and NXT leadership reportedly left the developmental brand scrambling to rewrite future storylines. Specifically, plans for Oba Femi and Je’Von Evans to pull “double duty” leading into WrestleMania 42 weekend were scrapped at the last minute.

“Their entire show has been raided. Jordynne Grace got taken, Oba Femi got taken, Trick Williams got taken, Je’Von Evans, so on and so forth. I’ll say this though, man. So here’s an actual fact, chat. A lot of this call-up stuff has come together very late. And I have reasonable evidence that there was not a lot of coordination and collaboration between the main roster and NXT on how to do this. Because the NXT side expected to at least be able to do double duty with Oba Femi and J’evon Evans until Mania… The bottom line is this: a lot of this clearly came together late… The right hand wasn’t knowing what the left hand was doing, in the sense that NXT was kind of blindsided by these call-ups.”
