Since Monday Night Raw moved exclusively to Netflix in January 2025, the transition has been largely successful, but not without its growing pains. One of the most persistent complaints from subscribers in the United States has been the frequency of commercial interruptions. While streaming platforms generally promise a more seamless viewing experience, domestic fans have often found the ad load comparable to—or in some cases more intrusive than—traditional cable television. It appears WWE and Netflix have heard the feedback and are taking steps to rectify the issue.
According to a report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, a decision has been made to officially reduce the number of commercial breaks per episode. The report states that the show will move from 12 scheduled breaks down to 10. This adjustment was implemented immediately, coming into effect during the January 12 episode of Raw which aired live from Dusseldorf, Germany.
“One of the key complaints about Raw on the streaming service has been the heavy number of commercials that fans in the United States are shown during the show. This has been addressed… A decision was made to reduce the number of commercial breaks on Monday Night Raw from 12 per show to 10.”
The disparity in the viewing experience has been a major point of contention. While international audiences are treated to exclusive interviews, backstage segments, or continued in-ring action during breaks, US viewers have been locked into traditional ad blocks. While the reduction in the number of breaks is confirmed, it remains unclear if the duration of the remaining breaks will be extended to compensate for the lost ad revenue.
The modified format will be put to the test again next Monday, January 19, as the “Road to the Royal Rumble” continues. Raw travels to the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, for a highly anticipated show headlined by a World Heavyweight Championship match. CM Punk is set to defend his title against hometown hero Finn Balor, a match that is expected to draw massive viewership. With fewer commercial interruptions breaking up the flow of the main event, WWE is likely hoping to keep domestic fans glued to their screens as the company builds momentum toward the upcoming stadium show in Saudi Arabia.
