WWE’s touring model has undergone a drastic shift in recent years, moving from over 100 live events annually to fewer than 40 in 2025. While this reduction is generally seen as a positive for talent health, veteran superstar Bayley believes there is a downside to the new schedule. Speaking to the Toronto Sun, the former champion weighed in on how the lack of “reps” might be affecting the next generation.
Bayley admitted that for her own body, the lighter schedule is a blessing, recalling the grueling grind of her early main roster run where she wrestled as many as 85 house shows in 2017 alone. However, she noted that those untelevised matches were crucial for her development—something current rising stars like Roxanne Perez and Lyra Valkyria are missing out on.
“It was really brutal. Now, when I look back at it, I miss them. I feel it helps with longevity and keep up and stay relevant is because we had that experience. It’s very different than TV. TV is stressful… but if you get your reps in on the live events, it makes a world of difference.”
She expressed hope that the company could find a “happy and healthy balance” in the future, perhaps increasing the number of shows slightly to give newer talent a platform to experiment and build confidence without the pressure of live television cameras.
“For someone like me, it does help my body, but I feel for the ones that really want to be on those shows.”
