Saraya Reveals Influx Of DMs After Discussing Dating Standards On Podcast

Saraya, the wrestler formerly known as Paige in WWE, has never been shy about speaking her mind, and her latest podcast episode is no exception. The former AEW Women’s World Champion recently opened up about her personal life, disclosing that she was looking for a partner who would treat her with respect and kindness. While this sounds like a reasonable request, the reaction from her fanbase has been overwhelming—and not necessarily in the way she hoped.

In a follow-up episode, Saraya revealed that her comments led to a massive flood of direct messages from potential suitors hoping to shoot their shot. However, the British star was quick to dismiss many of them, noting that simply being “kind” is not a selling point but rather a basic requirement for human interaction.

Saraya Calls Out The “Bare Minimum” In Modern Dating

Discussing the aftermath of her previous comments, Saraya explained that while she appreciated the interest, she found it amusing that people viewed basic decency as a special trait. She emphasized that meeting the threshold of “respect” is the absolute floor for a relationship, not the ceiling.

“We were talking about that. People were very interested in my checklist when we did that on here. I’m glad we did that. I really am. I’ve had a lot of suitors in my DMs trying to take me out on a date. I’ve had a lot of people being like, ‘Hey, I can do all those things.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s called the bare minimum.’ But it is the bare minimum. It really is. So I get a lot of people in my DMs saying, ‘I can do that. I can treat you with respect and be kind to you.’”

From WWE Retirement To AEW World Champion

Saraya’s candid discussions come during a period of transition in her professional life. After being forced to retire from WWE in 2018 due to a severe neck injury, she made a miraculous return to the ring by signing with AEW in September 2022. Her run with the promotion was highlighted by a fairytale moment at All In 2023, where she won the AEW Women’s World Championship in a fatal four-way match at Wembley Stadium in her home country.

However, her tenure with All Elite Wrestling came to an end in October 2024. Leaving the company by mutual consent, Saraya has since chosen to step away from the weekly grind of wrestling television to focus on other creative projects. Currently, she is dedicating her time to growing her popular podcast and writing her upcoming memoir, giving fans a deeper look into the life of one of wrestling’s most resilient stars.
