The landscape of the WWE women’s division shifted dramatically late last year with the return of The Judgment Day’s Liv Morgan. After being sidelined for six months due to a serious injury suffered in June, Morgan made her long-awaited return to the ring during the company’s holiday tour. Her first opponent back was none other than the rising Irish star Lyra Valkyria, kickstarting a rivalry that has spanned multiple countries and television episodes as the calendar turned to 2026.
The feud began officially on the untelevised December 27 Holiday Tour show, where Morgan stepped back between the ropes to face Valkyria. Since that night, the two have become familiar foes, battling across Europe and on Monday Night Raw. In a new interview with ClutchPoints, Valkyria opened up about the experience of being the one to welcome Morgan back to action. Despite falling on the losing end of their encounters, Valkyria had nothing but high praise for the former champion.
“It’s been amazing,” Valkyria told the outlet. “She’s one of the top women in the company, so to have been wrestling her all around Europe has been (a) pretty great start to 2026.” The sentiment highlights the respect Valkyria has for Morgan’s standing in the industry, viewing their series of matches as a valuable learning opportunity rather than just a win-loss record.
Since that initial meeting, the rivalry has intensified on television. The two clashed in their first televised singles match on the January 5 episode of Raw. The hostility continued the following week in a high-stakes tag team encounter, where Valkyria teamed with Bayley in a Number One Contender Triple Threat match. Unfortunately for Valkyria, the momentum remained with The Judgment Day, as Morgan and her partner Roxanne Perez emerged victorious to earn a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Most recently, the pair returned to singles competition during the Road to the Royal Rumble house show in Belgium on January 20, where Morgan continued her winning streak. With both women officially entered into the women’s Royal Rumble match this Saturday in Saudi Arabia, fans are expecting another chapter of this feud to be written inside the 30-woman over-the-top-rope elimination match.
