It has been over five months since the WWE Universe last saw Piper Niven in action. Her last match was a victory over Charlotte Flair on the August 22nd episode of SmackDown, after which she was written off television with a “top secret special assignment” excuse provided by her tag team partner, Chelsea Green. Reports later confirmed Niven was dealing with a neck injury, and on Monday, the Scottish star finally broke her silence regarding her difficult recovery.
Responding to a fan on social media, Niven offered a candid and heartbreaking update. “The truth is I’ve been so quiet as I know you have questions but the fact of the matter is, I don’t know yet,” she wrote. She revealed the severity of her condition, stating, “It’s 5 months on and some days when it’s bad I can’t stand up for more than a few minutes if even a minute.”
Despite the physical struggle, Niven remains determined to return to the career she has loved since she was 16. “Do I want to come back? Of course I do… I feel like I was really just starting to get confident again and open up and hit my groove.” While there is no concrete date for her return, she ended her message with a glimmer of optimism: “So all this to say, I hope so. Keep your fingers crossed for me.”
