WWE Pulled Planned Angle Between The Miz And Ilja Dragunov Late In Broadcast

Fans watching last week’s episode of SmackDown missed out on a planned physical altercation due to last-minute changes. According to a report from WrestleVotes Radio, a segment involving Ilja Dragunov interfering in The Miz’s match against Carmelo Hayes was cut from the broadcast very late in the show.

Building Towards Miz vs. Dragunov

“We’re told the angle was included in the final draft of the show and ultimately pulled late into the live broadcast,” the report stated. The intended purpose was to continue building toward a future match between The Miz and the “Mad Dragon.” It remains unclear if the segment has been abandoned entirely or simply pushed to a future episode, but the scrapped angle suggests that WWE creative has a specific direction in mind for Dragunov’s ascent on the blue brand.
