Confusion surrounded Brody King’s absence from the February 11 episode of AEW Dynamite, but the actual reason for him missing the show has now been revealed—and it has nothing to do with network censorship. According to PWInsider, King was never scheduled to appear live at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. Instead, he and other talents flew out of LAX on Wednesday night to head to Australia, with the travel schedule being the sole reason for his omission from the live broadcast.
Initial reports from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer suggested that Warner Bros. Discovery had blocked King from appearing due to controversy surrounding “F*ck ICE” chants directed at him during his feud with MJF. However, Meltzer has since backtracked on that claim after WBD denied any involvement. “Those at AEW have said nobody from WBD asked them not to use Brody King on last night’s show and this was just how it was booked,” Meltzer tweeted, correcting his earlier report.
With the rumors put to rest, King is now focused on the biggest match of his career. He is scheduled to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship at AEW Grand Slam Australia on Saturday. While he didn’t appear live on Dynamite, he was featured in a video package promoting the high-stakes title fight.
