The road to recovery for one of WWE‘s top stars has hit another significant hurdle. Bianca Belair, who has been sidelined for nearly a year, announced on social media that she is undergoing surgery on Monday to repair a lingering issue with her hand. The “EST of WWE” shared the update with a brief message stating, “Finger surgery tomorrow,” accompanied by a praying emoji, confirming that her return to the ring is still a work in progress.
Belair has been out of action since WrestleMania 41, where she competed in a Triple Threat match for the Women’s World Championship against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley. While fans initially believed the absence was due to a standard hiatus or a minor injury, the reality has proven to be much more complex. In a recent interview with BET’s 106 & Sports, Belair provided graphic details about the injury, clarifying that it was not a simple finger break but a much more severe structural issue.
“So I broke my knuckle, not my finger, I broke my knuckle, I broke the joint,” Belair explained during the interview. She described the incident that caused the damage, pinpointing a high-risk spot during the WrestleMania match. “I was in a triple threat with Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. And we were going to the top rope, because that’s what we do, and we came off the top rope and Rhea landed straight on my hand and it just crushed everything in my finger.”
The mental toll of the injury has been just as challenging as the physical pain. Belair revealed that the initial prognosis was a recovery time of eight to 12 weeks. However, complications have extended that timeline significantly, with the star now approaching the one-year mark on the shelf. “It’s been a crazy journey. Being an athlete and having an injury, you rely on your body and now my body’s not doing what it’s supposed to do,” she lamented. Despite the setbacks, she expressed hope that this surgery will finally clear the path for her to return to the squared circle soon.
Since the injury occurred, Belair’s presence on WWE programming has been scarce. Her only notable appearance came at the all-women’s event, WWE Evolution, where she donned the stripes to serve as a special guest referee for a match between Jade Cargill and Naomi. While she was able to perform that limited role without physical altercations, the surgery confirms that she is not yet medically cleared for full competition.
With WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas fast approaching, the timing of this surgery casts doubt on her participation in this year’s “Showcase of the Immortals.” Belair has been a staple of WrestleMania since her main event victory at WrestleMania 37, and missing a second consecutive year would be a significant blow to the women’s division. Outside of the ring, Belair continues to maintain a high profile through her reality series, Love & WWE: Bianca & Montez, which chronicles her life alongside husband Montez Ford, offering fans a glimpse into the personal struggles behind her professional absence.
