The 2026 Elimination Chamber event saw a sudden turn of events during the main event match. Drew McIntyre made his presence felt and intentionally screwed Cody Rhodes out of a victory.
This unexpected interference completely altered the championship landscape for the promotion. Following the match, WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis got in McIntyre’s face in a big way.
The executive was visibly frustrated with the champion’s actions during the contest. Aldis then had a major announcement for the live audience and the viewers at home.
Nick Aldis came out during the post-show broadcast to address the chaotic finish. He made a big announcement regarding the immediate future of the top prize.
Drew McIntyre will officially defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes this Friday night on SmackDown. McIntyre wasn’t happy about this turn of events at all.
The heel champion felt he was being unfairly punished for his strategic interference. He immediately got in Nick Aldis’ face to voice his extreme displeasure.
The confrontation escalated quickly as the two men exchanged heated words. Security personnel had to rush in and pull them apart from each other before things turned physical.
Nick Aldis and Drew McIntyre almost threw down right there on the broadcast. The WWE fans will have to see what happens next between the champion and the authority figure.
As tensions continue to build, it appears that McIntyre will have to prepare for a title defense very soon. He must now shift his focus to the impending television main event.
Cody Rhodes will undoubtedly be looking for revenge when he steps into the ring on Friday. The popular babyface had his title dreams temporarily derailed by the sudden attack.
He now has a direct opportunity to take the gold away from his bitter rival. Meanwhile, Randy Orton officially won the Men’s Elimination Chamber match following the chaotic interference.
The veteran superstar capitalized on the distraction and hit an RKO on Rhodes to secure his victory. So, he will take on whoever walks out of SmackDown as the reigning champion.
Prior to the finish of the steel structure match, the WWE fans witnessed another major return. A masked man entered the cage and attacked Logan Paul, eventually unmasking to reveal himself as Seth Rollins.
This additional chaos only added to the unpredictability of the night. The creative team has certainly set the stage for a very busy spring schedule.
The winner of the upcoming SmackDown title bout will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Orton at WrestleMania 42. The two-night stadium event is scheduled for April 18 and 19, 2026.
