Randy Orton Reacts To Punching His Ticket To WWE WrestleMania

The veteran locker room leaders are essential to the long-term success of the professional wrestling industry. Randy Orton is incredibly grateful for exactly where he is right now in his WWE career. The legendary performer has transitioned into a highly respected figure behind the scenes.

On the WWE Elimination Chamber post-show, the 45-year-old superstar spoke candidly to the broadcast panel. Orton told the panel that he never saw himself being in the specific role he is in now. He admitted that being a dedicated mentor for younger talent was never his original goal.

“I’ll be honest, it’s quite fulfilling. Like Je’Von Evans, bless his heart, he looked great out there tonight,” he said.

The veteran specifically highlighted the impressive performance of the rising developmental star during the grueling steel structure match. He noted the potential he sees in the next generation of athletes.

“He ended up getting eliminated of course but seeing him, seeing Trick, seeing the other young guys, a few guys down in NXT, Myles Bourne’s one of them, there’s a lot of guys that I’m excited to talk to and I can tell they’re excited to listen,” he added.

Orton takes great pride in passing down the psychological nuances of the sport to the younger generation. He believes his extensive experience is a valuable asset to the entire locker room.

“I feel like there’s a certain lane that I stayed in where I make little things mean something and just last night I was able to talk with a couple of young guys and I could tell that they were really excited to hear what I had to say and their eyes got kind wide open and were like ‘Oh wow, this Randy knows his s***,’” he noted.

The multi-time champion expressed a deep passion for teaching the intricate details of ring psychology.

“And I do! I have a lot to give back,” he said proudly.

He credited this new mentorship role with revitalizing his passion for the demanding business.

“And like I said, it’s fulfilling to me and it fills my lungs up with fresh air man, it makes my heart beat faster. I love this business and if I can do it ten more years, I will, God willing,” he ended.

Orton officially won the Men’s Elimination Chamber match on Saturday night in Chicago. He secured the victory by last eliminating Cody Rhodes after Drew McIntyre caused a sudden distraction. Orton will now challenge for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42 in the spring.

However, who will actually be the defending champion in that match remains in total question. A furious Nick Aldis announced on the post-show that McIntyre will defend the title against Rhodes on this coming Friday’s SmackDown. The winner of that television main event will advance to face Orton at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 18 or 19.
