CM Punk Doesn’t Miss This From His Past

CM Punk has officially revealed what specific aspects of his past persona he does not miss from his very first run in the company. That initial stint with the promotion famously ended in 2014 following a highly publicized and controversial exit.

Fans vividly remember his early days when he was just trying to establish a name for himself. Signing a developmental contract back in 2005, CM Punk would eventually go on to achieve incredible success on the main roster.

He managed to become the ECW Champion, World Heavyweight Champion, and WWE Champion during his legendary tenure. His unique look and unmatched microphone skills quickly set him apart from the rest of the locker room.

He also spent significant time leading controversial heel factions like the Straight Edge Society and The New Nexus. These groups helped establish his character as a top villain to the WWE fans watching around the world.

His ability to draw legitimate anger from the crowd made him one of the most effective bad guys of that entire generation. Now, years later, the veteran competitor is enjoying a career resurgence as a beloved babyface.

He is officially the cover star of this year’s WWE 2K26 video game, which is scheduled to release in March. Furthermore, he is also the central focus of the heavily promoted Showcase Mode within the annual franchise release.

This dedicated gameplay mode will be taking players through historic moments in his extensive professional wrestling career. It allows players to experience his journey from his early days all the way to his modern triumphs.

The brand new WWE 2K26 Showcase Mode was recently explored by the popular gaming website IGN. During this exclusive preview, the Second City Saint revealed two physical aspects of his past in WWE that he absolutely does not want to revisit.

The developers recreated several of his most famous looks, prompting a humorous reaction from the current champion. When asked if he ever missed the infamous Straight Edge Society mask, Punk was completely emphatic in his response.

“My mask? Errrr. No, and I don’t miss that hair either.”

He clearly prefers his current look over the heavily stylized and somewhat awkward appearance from that specific era. The long hair and the dark mask were signature elements of his character work, but they are firmly in the past.

Laughing as he watched his digital avatar come out to the ring in his Straight Edge Society persona in video game form, Punk went on to praise the developers. He was genuinely impressed by the graphical fidelity and accuracy.

“Missing some tattoos. Still got a messed-up right elbow. The right gear. Wow, you guys went all out here.”

He appreciated the meticulous attention to detail that the visual art team poured into recreating his younger self. The developers ensured that his digital counterpart accurately reflected the exact time period of those classic matches.

The upcoming release of the WWE 2K26 video game arrives at a very busy time for the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. CM Punk is currently preparing to headline the upcoming WrestleMania 42 stadium event against the 2026 Royal Rumble winner, Roman Reigns. Punk recently successfully defended his championship against Finn Balor at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in his hometown of Chicago. This victory officially cemented his marquee main event spot on the grandest stage of them all this April at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
