The road to WrestleMania 42 continues to feature interesting challenges and callouts from the current active roster. Raquel Rodriguez recently spoke about potentially getting to face off with Bianca Belair on the grandest stage of them all. The two talented athletes have a long history together dating back to their early days in the developmental system. They have always managed to bring out the absolute best in each other whenever they share the ring.
Since WrestleMania 41 last year, Belair has been completely out of action. She sustained a legitimate finger injury during a competitive triple threat match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. There is still no firm timetable on exactly when she will be able to return to the ring. She recently underwent another necessary surgery to repair the lingering damage. The entire locker room has felt her absence over the past twelve months.
While speaking on the latest episode of the RAW Recap media broadcast, Raquel Rodriguez was asked to name who she would like to face at the upcoming stadium event. The current Raw superstar made it very clear that she wants to face off with Belair if she is medically ready to go in time. The discussion highlighted her desire to test herself against the top tier of the roster.
“That’s a tough one, because there are some women that I still would love to face,” Rodriguez explained during the interview.
She acknowledged the current medical reality facing her preferred opponent as the spring season accelerates. The recovery process has taken much longer than originally anticipated by the medical staff. It is never easy for an athlete to sit on the sidelines during the busiest time of the year.
“I don’t think she’ll be back in time for WrestleMania but, Bianca Belair, if she can get that finger back to work, I would love to step in the ring with Bianca Belair,” she continued.
Rodriguez feels confident in her own abilities and is actively seeking an opponent who can push her to the limit. She sees the former champion as the ultimate measuring stick for the women’s division. A victory over her would cement her status as a top contender.
“She’s the only woman at the moment that I can think of that can give me some decent competition in the ring,” Rodriguez noted.
She also outlined her own personal goals heading into the two-night event. She wants to capture gold before she finally meets the returning star in the squared circle. Adding a championship to the mix would raise the stakes significantly.
“So when The EST is ready, and when Big Sexy is IC Champion, then we’ll talk,” Rodriguez concluded.
While she waits for her preferred opponent to get medically cleared, Rodriguez has her sights firmly set on capturing championship gold. She is officially scheduled to compete in a Women’s Intercontinental Championship number one contender’s gauntlet match on the upcoming March 9 episode of Monday Night Raw. She will battle IYO SKY, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, Ivy Nile, and Asuka for the right to challenge AJ Lee at WrestleMania 42. The stadium event will take place on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
