The transition to a streaming platform continues to yield positive results for the sports entertainment giant. Last Monday’s episode of WWE Raw on Netflix officially remained in their global top ten for the fourth straight week. The flagship program also saw notable viewership increases in the process.
The weekly broadcast has consistently performed well since making the jump to the streaming service. The Monday, February 23 episode brought in an impressive 2.8 million global views. This correlated to roughly 5.6 million global hours viewed, according to Netflix’s official Tudum data metrics.
The views are up slightly from the previous week’s 2.7 million mark. Meanwhile, the total hours viewed were up by a solid 700,000 from the prior week. This strong performance allowed the wrestling broadcast to finish seventh overall globally among all available English-language television shows.
It had a listed runtime of exactly one hour and 53 minutes. This was up ten full minutes from the prior week’s show, which helped significantly contribute to the overall increase in hours viewed. The longer runtime allowed the creative team to properly execute several important storyline developments.
The global reach of the product was also highly apparent in the regional breakdowns. The episode successfully landed in the top ten charts for 21 different countries around the world. The international WWE fans are clearly embracing the new streaming format.
The episode was headlined by a very emotional segment that captivated the audience. The AJ Styles appreciation segment closed the show in a truly memorable fashion. During the promo, the legendary competitor officially announced his retirement from in-ring competition to the live crowd.
He was then visibly moved when he got the surprise news that he is going into the WWE Hall of Fame. The emotional gravity of the announcement undoubtedly kept viewers tuned in until the very last second. It was also the official Raw go-home edition prior to the Elimination Chamber premium live event in Chicago.
While professional wrestling performed exceptionally well, a period drama ultimately took the top spot for the week. The leader for the tracking period was Bridgerton, as it dropped the four final episodes of its fourth season. The popular show garnered 28 million global views and 248.8 million global hours viewed.
Additionally, three separate seasons of The Night Agent also dominated the top ten globally. The competition on the streaming platform is fierce, but WWE has proven they have a dedicated audience. The company will look to maintain this momentum as the biggest season of the year continues.
The viewership is fully expected to climb even higher as the promotion approaches WrestleMania 42. The two-night stadium event in Las Vegas will feature massive attractions, including Cody Rhodes competing for the Undisputed WWE Championship and Rhea Ripley challenging Jade Cargill. Adam Pearce has already announced that Roman Reigns and CM Punk will appear live on the next episode of Raw to continue their intense rivalry.
