The reigning AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR will officially defend their titles as part of this Saturday’s Collision lineup. Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood are preparing for a major challenge as they head toward the pay-per-view. The popular duo is ready to put their gold on the line against a rising team.
Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz, known as The Rascalz, earned this championship opportunity in a title eliminator match. The winners of this upcoming Saturday bout will move on to defend the titles against The Young Bucks at this month’s Revolution event. The stakes are incredibly high for the champions and the challengers alike.
At one point earlier on Dynamite, Dax Harwood challenged Tommaso Ciampa to a singles match on Collision. However, that specific encounter never came to be as the creative plans shifted toward the tag team title defense. The champions must now refocus their energy on the highly athletic Rascalz in Fresno, California.
The program will also feature a clash between two major international champions. Claudio Castagnoli and Konosuke Takeshita will go one-on-one in a highly anticipated singles match. Takeshita is already scheduled to challenge Castagnoli’s Death Riders teammate Jon Moxley at the Revolution pay-per-view in Los Angeles.
This will mark the third-ever singles match between the two stars. Their most recent encounter resulted in a 20-minute time limit draw during the Continental Classic tournament this past year. The fans are eager to see if a definitive winner can be determined before they reach the big stage in March.
Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland is also set for action on the broadcast. He will take on Gravity, who is the brother of Bandido. This match comes after Strickland was seen choking out Brody King on Dynamite, followed by Bandido coming out for a dramatic late save.
This will be Gravity’s first match for the promotion since a much-discussed tag team bout in late 2023. The new additions join a previously announced four-way tag team match for the evening. That contest will see the highly anticipated return of Rush and Dralistico to the active roster.
The Collision broadcast will take place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. The local audience is ready for a night of heavy-hitting action that will set the stage for the stadium show. Management is working to ensure that the momentum continues to build as the roster prepares for the busy spring season on the West Coast.
