WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event Set For May

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is officially set to continue its run as a primary fixture of the company’s broadcast schedule. The most recent iteration of the classic series took place in January, marking the sixth time the special has aired within a single calendar year. While the series has become a staple of the annual calendar, it appears that the audience will have to wait a little longer for the next chapter.

Sources within the company have indicated that the next edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event is currently on the books for May 23, 2026. While an official location has not been confirmed by management, Nashville, Tennessee, is being seriously considered for the May broadcast. The city has a proven track record as a major wrestling market for the promotion.

The specific timing of the May 23 event is highly noticeable to those following the spring schedule. It is scheduled to take place just one week before the historic Clash in Italy premium live event in Turin. This strategic positioning suggests that the NBC special will serve as a primary lead-in for the international showcase.

The broadcast will potentially feature high-stakes matches that will determine the final card for the May 31 spectacle at the Inalpi Arena. The creative team is reportedly planning to use the increased visibility on network television to hype the European tour. This consistent presence on NBC and Peacock remains a core part of the broader media rights strategy for 2026.

Management is reportedly planning a total of four SNME shows for the current year. The previous December edition was a massive success for the brand, as it featured the official retirement match of the legendary John Cena. Cena was defeated by Gunther in a physical main event that solidified the “Ring General” as a dominant force.

The upcoming May date falls during the heart of the spring season, serving as a major stop following the fallout of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. Nashville has previously hosted several large-scale productions, including the record-breaking SummerSlam 2022 event at Nissan Stadium. The local WWE fans in Tennessee are eager to see if their city secures the high-profile network special.

While the Nashville location is still being finalized, the international roster is already preparing for their journey across the Atlantic. Clash in Italy will mark the first-ever premium live event held in the country, with major stars like CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Rhea Ripley already advertised for the tour. The European Summer Tour will also visit cities in Spain, France, and Portugal, beginning with SmackDown in Barcelona on May 29. The May 23 special will likely provide the final pieces of the puzzle for the Milan and Turin broadcasts as the global expansion of the brand continues to accelerate.
