WWE WrestleMania 42 May Feature Record Women’s Matches

WWE WrestleMania 42 could be heavy on the women’s matches this year. A new report from WrestleVotes Radio has indicated that there is a significant idea within the creative team that could see at least six women’s matches across the two nights. While the full slate of matches has not been officially revealed, sources suggest that five of those are already firmly planned.

If the company ultimately moves forward with six matches, it would mark the most women’s bouts ever featured at a single WrestleMania event. The current record was set at WrestleMania 36, which featured five matches, including the kickoff match between Liv Morgan and Natalya. This potential expansion reflects the depth of the current roster and the “workhorse” reputation the division has built.

The championship landscape for the event is already becoming clear following the events of the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill is set to defend her title against Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown brand. Ripley earned her spot by outlasting five other competitors in the grueling steel structure in Chicago.

On the Raw side, Royal Rumble winner Liv Morgan has officially declared that she will challenge Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship. Morgan has been a centerpiece of the division since her return and looks to capture the top prize on the grandest stage. These two marquee matches provide a strong foundation for the division’s weekend.

WrestleMania 42 is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. This marks the second consecutive year the event will be held in the city following the massive success of WrestleMania 41. WWE currently has no plans to announce the final match count, but the firm internal plans suggest a dominant weekend.

The event will also feature the first-ever live broadcast of the first hour of each night on ESPN and ESPN2. This historic distribution strategy aims to reach a wider audience of casual fans on basic cable before transitioning to ESPN Unlimited. International viewers will be able to stream the entire two-night spectacle live on Netflix.

In addition to the world title matches, the card is expected to feature a high-stakes Women’s United States Championship match involving IYO SKY and Giulia. AJ Lee is also scheduled to defend her newly won Women’s Intercontinental Championship against a to-be-determined challenger. The creative team is working to ensure that the “Showcase of the Immortals” highlights the elite athleticism of the entire women’s locker room.
