The championship landscape for the developmental brand is officially getting a lot more crowded. Two major title matches have been set for the NXT broadcast in Houston later this month. The local fans are preparing for a night of high-stakes action as the spring season reaches a fever pitch.
At the recent Vengeance Day event, Jacy Jayne came out to deliver a heated promo regarding her history as a former champion. She was eventually cut off by Robert Stone, who explained that the division needed to find her next challengers. This led to a volatile confrontation in the middle of the squared circle.
After both Zaria and Sol Ruca arrived to stake their claim for a title opportunity, Stone made a definitive decision. He announced a massive triple threat match for the NXT Women’s Championship on the March 17 episode. Jayne was visibly upset about the ruling as her rivals celebrated the news.
Later on backstage, the champion’s frustration continued to mount as she consulted with her allies. The rest of the Fatal Influence faction began conspiring to take out Ruca before the championship match could even take place. They want to ensure the odds are in Jayne’s favor when they travel to Texas.
Fallon Henley also brought up a major title defense of her own for the same Houston broadcast. She will be defending the WWE Speed Championship against a very familiar opponent. Her challenger will be determined this coming Tuesday on NXT television in a high-stakes final match.
Wren Sinclair and Thea Hail are set to face off to decide who will challenge Henley for the gold. Both women picked up impressive victories in the qualifying round to reach this final stage. The winner will have to maintain their incredible pace to dethrone the reigning champion in the fast-paced environment.
The NXT Women’s Championship match is currently expected to headline the March 17 show. Jayne will have her hands full with two of the most athletic performers on the current roster. Zaria has been a dominant force since her debut, while Ruca continues to amaze the WWE fans with her innovative offense.
As the developmental stars prepare for Houston, they are also keeping an eye on the bigger picture. WrestleMania 42 is scheduled for April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Many of these athletes are fighting for a potential spot on the massive stadium card as the company looks to showcase the next generation of talent on the grandest stage of them all.
