Bayley Discusses Locker Room Leadership

The Role Model is officially opening up about her growing reputation as a pillar of the women’s division. Multiple wrestlers, including Shotzi and Sonya Deville, have publicly called Bayley the locker room leader in the Stamford-based promotion. While she has been a mainstay of the roster for over a decade, she admitted that this specific role is something she has only recently begun to embrace.

Recently on Busted Open Radio, Bayley was asked about her transition into a mentor for the next generation of athletes. She shared that she loves passing on the knowledge she has received from other legends throughout her career. For her, leadership isn’t about control, but about ensuring the growth of the entire locker room.

“I don’t take it lightly. It’s hard to feel like that. I feel like it’s come not naturally, obviously,” Bayley admitted. “I just started realizing it more within the last few years, where people are coming to me asking for feedback or advice or their opinion on something, and I’m like, ‘Okay, do they actually value what I have to say?’ It’s made me realize when I watch matches now, or if I’m watching my friends have a match, I need to pay attention, not just watch as a fan now.”

She noted that her perspective on the industry is often different from the younger stars she works with. For example, she and her current tag team partner, Lyra Valkyria, don’t always see eye to eye on every aspect of a match. However, she values those differences and enjoys sharing the lessons she learned from veterans like Naomi and Natalya regarding perseverance and professional conduct.

“I love being able to share what I’ve learned from Naomi about perseverance and about pushing through. I love what I’ve learned from Nattie about the same thing and how to treat people,” she explained. “I love passing on what I’ve learned from Cena with just storytelling, keeping it simple, how we overcomplicate things, and listening. I love being able to share that. It’s not all coming from me.”

Bayley believes that this cycle of information is vital for the long-term health of the industry. She views herself as a vessel for the collective wisdom of those who came before her. By passing these lessons down to the newer talent, she ensures that the high standard of performance remains consistent across all brands.

“I’ve just gathered all this information. The more that we could share that, and then they could pass that along. It just keeps going and going. I love this position,” she concluded. Her leadership will be on full display during the upcoming March 9 episode of Monday Night Raw, where she is scheduled to compete in a high-stakes gauntlet match for a shot at the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
