Cody Rhodes Praises WWE WrestleMania 42 Card

The “American Nightmare” is officially doubling down on his high expectations for the biggest event of the year. While only a handful of matches have been formally confirmed for WrestleMania 42, the foundation for a historic two-night spectacle has already been laid. Cody Rhodes is officially scheduled to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against his former mentor, Randy Orton, in a main event clash that has the WWE fans buzzing.

Speaking to Complex Graps on March 11, 2026, Rhodes clarified recent comments he made regarding the scale of the upcoming show. He previously referred to the event as a “Sleeper Mania,” a term he felt was slightly misunderstood by the audience. He explained that while milestone events like WrestleMania 40 carry a sense of destiny, the 2026 card is focused on delivering a “bell-to-bell” masterpiece.

“What I meant was because a ten-year Mania, like 40, you feel this sense of destiny. There is something about that ten-year moment,” Rhodes shared during the interview. “The matches that are coming together—Stephanie and Liv, what clearly looks like what Jacob (Fatu) might be doing. Sami (Zayn). I think you’re looking at a bell-to-bell Mania that is the best it’s been.”

Rhodes noted that the roster is currently firing on all cylinders, with the main event scene featuring a highly personal battle between CM Punk and Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship. He also expressed excitement for the younger generation of talent that he believes will define the industry for the next decade. He specifically named stars like Je’Von Evans, Oba Femi, and Kit Wilson as performers who could soon be main-eventing on the grandest stage of them all.

“I’d watch this WrestleMania for the potential of Je’Von, Oba, Kit Wilson, guys and girls who are hopefully sitting here ten years from now talking about main-eventing WrestleMania,” Rhodes added. He also teased that he has seen “potential guests” on internal documents that make him particularly excited as both a performer and a fan of the industry.

The “American Nightmare” believes the stakes have never been higher for the roster as they head toward the Nevada desert. WrestleMania 42 will emanate from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, 2026. The two-night event will also feature the massive collision between Jade Cargill and Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s Championship, a match that has already seen personal barbs traded across social media.

With earlier start times of 6 PM ET and a first-of-its-kind broadcast partnership with ESPN, the 42nd edition of the Showcase of the Immortals is being designed for maximum global impact. Rhodes closed by urging the fans to tune in because the competitive fire in the locker room is at an all-time high. The WWE fans are eager to see if Rhodes can survive the “Apex Predator” to continue his third reign at the top of the mountain this spring.
