The wrestling veteran is officially offering a transparent take on the recent news surrounding the “Pat McAfee Show” host. Following McAfee’s revelation that he won’t be returning to the commentary desk soon, Jonathan “The Coach” Coachman shared his thoughts on the matter. During a recent episode of “The Coach & Bro Show,” he claimed that the organization has been “using and abusing” the popular broadcaster.
Coachman argued that the creative team was utilizing McAfee’s massive platform primarily to promote other talent without offering proper compensation or support. He noted that McAfee hosts the top-rated daily show in America, making it a prime target for corporate synergy that may not have benefited the host personally.
“I think they were using and abusing him, and what I mean by that is they were throwing anybody and everybody on his show,” Coachman stated. “Like, if they needed to promote something, let’s go on Pat McAfee. Because he has the top-rated show in America during the day.”
The former commentator also alluded to internal information regarding the financial logistics of these appearances. He suggested that the company failed to cover basic production costs or offer competitive salaries that matched the value McAfee brought to the brand. This friction may have contributed to McAfee’s recent admission that the “business has passed him by.”
“I also have some inside information that they would go on the road and they would not offer to do this, or this, or this,” Coachman added. “Vince (Russo), the least that you can do is pay production costs. That is the least you can do, but they also have never paid announcers a big salary.”
While McAfee remains focused on his family and his ongoing work with ESPN, his absence leaves a significant void in the WWE broadcast landscape. The organization is currently preparing for WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas without one of its most energetic voices. The WWE fans are eager to see if management will address these claims as they look to finalize their commentary teams for the spring season.
