Sting’s Son Steven Borden Jr. To Make NJPW Debut

The legacy of “The Icon” is officially crossing international borders as a new generation prepares to take the spotlight. With less than ten career matches under his belt, Steven Borden Jr. is set to make his highly anticipated debut for New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The company announced on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, that Sting’s son will compete as part of the NJPW Academy’s third-anniversary showcase event.

The special event is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at the legendary LA Dojo in California. While Borden’s involvement has been confirmed, his specific opponent for the afternoon showcase has not yet been revealed to the public. This appearance marks a significant step in the young athlete’s development as he seeks to hone his craft within the prestigious NJPW system.

Borden first made his professional debut last October in a high-profile tag team match that featured Darby Allin, Killer Kross, and JD Drake. Since that night, he has gained experience through two appearances for DEFY Wrestling and four dark match contests for All Elite Wrestling. He also recently competed in a dark match for Ring of Honor, with his most recent in-ring outing occurring in early February.

NJPW veteran Fred Rosser recently revealed that he has been instrumental in training Borden at the Dojo, helping him adapt to the physical “Strong Style” of the promotion. AEW CEO Tony Khan has also expressed a significant interest in the young star’s trajectory. In February, Khan stated that “developing Borden for the future is a huge priority” for the organization, though it remains unconfirmed if he has officially signed an AEW contract.

As the spring season approaches, the WWE fans and AEW audience alike are watching the growth of Steven Borden Jr. with great interest. While his father recently concluded a historic career, the 2026 calendar year appears to be the beginning of a major journey for the younger Borden. The NJPW Academy showcase will provide a vital platform for him to display his progress before the industry converges on Las Vegas for WrestleMania 42 next month.
