Dominik Mysterio Explains Excommunicating Finn Balor

The “Dirty” era of the red brand has officially reached a new level of authority. Following the shocking betrayal on the March 9 episode of Monday Night Raw, Dominik Mysterio has provided the first official explanation for why The Judgment Day decided to excommunicate its founding member, Finn Bálor. Speaking on “The Collection,” Mysterio revealed that the group felt they were no longer operating as a cohesive unit under Bálor’s influence.

“It has been a good run for my old pal Finn Balor. It had to be done,” Mysterio stated regarding the assault. “There were a lot of differences going on… and at the end of the day, we played the Finn Balor playbook. That’s what happened. He should have seen it coming.” Mysterio noted that he was particularly pleased to see JD McDonagh “pull the trigger” on the attack, allowing McDonagh to finally step out of Bálor’s shadow.

When questioned about his new status as the group’s general, Mysterio remained coy but acknowledged the shift in power. “I don’t know about the leader, but that’s what they say, allegedly,” he replied. Since the departure of original founder Edge, the faction has largely operated without a singular head, with Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, and Liv Morgan all sharing leadership responsibilities at various stages.

Mysterio reflected on the group’s journey, admitting he initially found the concept “hokey” before the core four members clicked both inside and outside the ring. “There’s not one time in the Judgment Day that we haven’t had a championship or all of us covered in gold… it’s just crazy. It’s insane,” he added. With Bálor now operating as a solo fan-favorite, the new-look Judgment Day is focused on protecting Liv Morgan’s path to the Women’s World Title at WrestleMania 42.

The fallout from this excommunication is expected to dominate the March 16 episode of Raw in San Antonio. The WWE fans are eager to see how a “babyface” Finn Bálor will respond to his former “family” as the road to the Nevada desert reaches its final stretch. Management is reportedly high on the heat Mysterio is generating as he officially takes the reigns of the most dangerous faction in the industry today.
