WWE Night Of Champions In Saudi Arabia “Doubtful”

The company’s international expansion plans for the summer are officially in significant jeopardy. According to a new report from WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, the upcoming Night of Champions premium live event is currently viewed as “doubtful at best” due to the ongoing and escalating conflicts across the Middle East. The show was originally slated to take place in Riyadh on June 27, 2026.

The situation in the region has deteriorated rapidly since late February, with Riyadh being targeted by multiple drone attacks. Hostilities have led to the U.S. Department of State ordering diplomats and American employees to leave the country. Reports suggest that TKO Group Holdings sent an internal message to staff on March 4, reiterating the government’s guidance to avoid the region due to expected hostilities.

“WWE’s Night of Champions PLE has been slated to take place in Saudi Arabia, but we have learned from sources in Stamford that it is now ‘doubtful at best’ due to the ongoing conflicts across the region,” the report detailed. This uncertainty has already impacted other major sports, as Formula 1 officially canceled its April races in both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain earlier this month.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that many within the organization are under the impression that the summer trip is unlikely to proceed unless the situation significantly improves. This represents a substantial financial loss for the company, as each Saudi Arabia event is worth approximately $55 million under their ten-year partnership with the General Entertainment Authority.

While the Royal Rumble was successfully held in Riyadh earlier this year, the current military climate has forced management to consider alternative venues for the June broadcast. No official statement has been released regarding a potential relocation to a North American city, but internal discussions are reportedly ongoing. The company remains committed to the safety of its performers and production staff above all else.

As the road to WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas enters its final stop, the international schedule for the remainder of 2026 remains a major question mark. WWE and the Saudi GEA did not respond to initial inquiries regarding the status of the event. The WWE fans are watching closely to see if the championship showcase will be moved to a domestic location as the spring season reaches its conclusion.
