Backstage Update On WWE WrestleMania 42 Matches

With four weeks remaining until WrestleMania 42, the card still has significant gaps to fill according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer laid out the confirmed and probable matches while noting that WWE still needs three to five additional bouts to complete both nights at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 18 and 19.

The confirmed matches include CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship on night two, Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Championship on night one, Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar, Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley, Stephanie Vaquer vs. Liv Morgan, AJ Lee vs. Becky Lynch, and Drew McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu.

Meltzer on WrestleMania 42’s Probable Matches Still to Be Officially Announced

Beyond the confirmed bouts, Meltzer outlined several strong probables. Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio “remains strong probable.” Trick Williams vs. Sami Zayn is “certainly something being built up.” A multi-team Women’s Tag Team Championship match featuring Nia Jax and Lash Legend against combinations of Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, The Bella Twins, and The Kabuki Warriors “looks very likely.” If those matches are added, WWE would still need additional bouts to round out two full nights. The window to finalise the card is shrinking quickly, making the next few weeks of Raw and SmackDown critical for setting up whatever remains unannounced.
