Ric Flair is heading into WrestleMania 42 weekend with enormous pride in his daughter Charlotte’s career — but also a father’s wish that she had a bigger individual spotlight at this year’s show. Speaking with Yahoo Sports Daily, Flair praised Triple H’s work as head of creative while being transparent about his one reservation regarding Charlotte’s role at the event.
“I think he’s done a great job. I don’t think anybody truly understands how difficult it is to manage egos and talent. You can’t make everybody happy. Everybody thinks they’re the best. Everybody thinks they deserve more. But they have some great talent, great storylines. I’m really looking forward to watching it. I wish my daughter was in a singles match, but that’ll happen again. She’s the greatest, I’ll say it right now,” Flair said.
Ric Flair Says a Roman Reigns-Style Push for Charlotte Would Make Her Impossible to Approach
When asked about what it means to watch Charlotte become a WWE icon, Flair delivered his assessment with characteristically flamboyant affection — while acknowledging he knows Charlotte wishes he would dial it back. “If she had a Roman Reigns push, no one could ever talk to her again. She is an icon. She’s just raised the bar so high. And I know she gets upset when I say this, but it’s the God’s honest truth — she’s just that damn good.” Flair also addressed his removal from the Roots of Fight clothing brand, saying he understands the business reasoning given the brand’s new WWE deal — but wished someone had called him directly rather than informing him by letter. Charlotte competes in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal Four-Way alongside Alexa Bliss at WrestleMania 42 Night One on April 18.
