WWE received a $6 million site fee from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for hosting WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium — $1 million more than the $5 million the company received for WrestleMania 41 in the same city, according to Brandon Thurston and Jason Ounpraseuth of POST Wrestling. The site fee represents a direct payment from the city to WWE for the economic activity the event generates in Las Vegas.
In addition to the site fee, WWE received approval for $4,314,821 in tax credits from the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development — up slightly from the $4,240,456 in tax credits received last year. The combined figure puts the total publicly confirmed financial incentives WWE received from Nevada for hosting WrestleMania 42 at over $10 million before a single ticket, merchandise item, or network subscription was factored into the revenue picture.
The financial incentives add important context to WWE‘s post-event characterization of WrestleMania 42 as “one of the highest grossing events ever” — a claim that covers the full economic picture of the event rather than simply ticket revenue, which had been running approximately 19.6% below WrestleMania 41’s pace in the weeks leading up to the show. WrestleMania 42 was originally announced for New Orleans before being moved to Las Vegas, marking the second consecutive year the event was held at Allegiant Stadium. The two-night event on April 18 and 19 drew a combined attendance of 106,072 fans.
