Danhausen’s WrestleMania 42 Merchandise Number Is One of the Most Stunning Stats in Recent WWE History

Danhausen’s merchandise impact at WrestleMania 42 has now been quantified — and the result is extraordinary. According to Fightful Select, Danhausen finished third in in-stadium merchandise sales at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, trailing only CM Punk in first and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in second. The result is remarkable given that Danhausen appeared in a comedic segment rather than a match and had debuted in WWE just weeks earlier at Elimination Chamber in Chicago.

WrestleVotes had previously reported that WWE was blown away by Danhausen’s sales figures during WrestleMania weekend, noting that multiple restocks were required to keep up with demand. Fanatics was said to be equally impressed, with Danhausen expected to be added to the Fanatics Fest lineup as a direct result. WWE has also filed trademarks for several Danhausen-related terms, and reports indicated the company had considered placing his likeness on the Las Vegas Sphere as part of the event’s promotional campaign.

Danhausen Finishing Ahead of WrestleMania Veterans in Merchandise Sales Signals an Extraordinary Early Connection With WWE Audiences

Finishing third in in-stadium merchandise sales at the biggest show of the year — ahead of established WWE performers with years of audience relationships behind them — is the kind of early indicator that tells a company everything it needs to know about a performer’s commercial ceiling. Danhausen’s combination of a distinctive visual identity, genuinely funny character work, and a pre-existing fanbase from his independent wrestling career has clearly translated immediately to the mainstream WWE audience in a way that almost never happens this quickly.
