Fans who attended Monday Night Raw at the Sames Auto Arena in Laredo, Texas experienced significant heat discomfort throughout the event — and according to local news outlet KGNS News, a power outage earlier in the day was the root cause of the problem.
District 5 Council Member Ruben Gutierrez, who represents the area where the event took place, explained that the power outage occurred in the afternoon before Raw began. Although power was eventually restored, WWE’s production preparations started at 4 PM — leaving insufficient time for the arena’s air conditioning system to bring the building down to a comfortable temperature before doors opened.
The situation was compounded by the nature of a WWE production. Fire and pyrotechnics were being used inside the venue during the show, contributing to rising temperatures inside an arena that was already struggling to cool down. When doors opened at 5:30 PM, over 8,000 fans had already entered — and the air conditioning system was unable to keep pace with the combined heat generated by the crowd and the indoor fireworks.
Despite the uncomfortable conditions reported by fans throughout the night, the Laredo Fire Department confirmed there were no illnesses or injuries resulting from the event. Monday’s Raw featured Roman Reigns officially accepting Jacob Fatu’s World Heavyweight Championship challenge for Backlash, the official announcements of Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker and IYO SKY vs. Asuka for the pay-per-view, and Joe Hendry’s official Raw debut concert.
