Macey Estrella — known to wrestling fans as Lacey Evans — has announced she is returning to professional wrestling, citing the reaction of fans she met during WrestleCon at WrestleMania 42 weekend as the catalyst for her decision. Taking to Instagram, Estrella shared the news directly with her followers in characteristically direct fashion.
“I will be returning to wrestling. Yes, the Sassy Southern Belle is on her way back. As you all know, I just did a signing in Las Vegas during WrestleMania and it really lit that fire. Getting to see my fans, getting to conversate with them,” Estrella said. Fans at the signing repeatedly asked when she would be returning to the ring, and combined with her children’s desire to see her compete, the motivation to come back became too strong to ignore.
Estrella signed with WWE in 2016 after five years in the United States Marine Corps and training that began in 2014. She debuted in NXT as the Sassy Southern Belle before heading to the main roster in 2019, undergoing multiple character changes including a notable romantic storyline with Ric Flair and a later military-based character built around the Cobra Clutch — a finisher originally associated with Sgt. Slaughter. She departed WWE in August 2023.
Lacey Evans Ran a Cafe in South Carolina After Leaving WWE Before Being Motivated to Return to the Ring
Post-WWE life saw Estrella run a cafe in Beaufort County, South Carolina until 2025. No specific promotion has been announced as her return destination, and no timeline has been given for when the Sassy Southern Belle will be back in action.
