Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston — the two remaining members of The New Day following Big E’s transition to a broadcasting role — are leaving WWE, according to Fightful Select and Cory Hays of Bodyslam. Fightful Select was told the departures were mutually agreed upon by both parties and the company. JC Mateo and Tanga Loa are also leaving WWE at the same time.
The New Day is one of the most decorated and longest-running acts in WWE history. Kingston and Woods — alongside Big E — debuted the faction in 2014 and went on to become one of the most beloved stables in the company’s modern era, winning the WWE Tag Team Championships a record number of times and becoming synonymous with the positivity and entertainment that defined much of the mid-to-late 2010s era of the product. Kingston’s individual peak came at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, when he defeated Daniel Bryan to win the WWE Championship in one of the most emotionally resonant moments the show has ever produced.
The departures of Kingston and Woods effectively bring the in-ring chapter of The New Day to a close on WWE television — a significant moment given how central the faction has been to the company’s product for over a decade. No further details about the timing of their exits or any potential future plans have been confirmed at this stage. Tanga Loa had been part of the Bloodline faction on WWE television, while JC Mateo had been associated with the faction as well. More details are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
