Will Ospreay Says He Is Proud He Was Never Made by WWE and Reveals Tony Khan Paid for His Neck Surgery

Will Ospreay has opened up about two deeply personal aspects of his professional wrestling journey in a new interview with Forbes — expressing pride that his career was built entirely outside of WWE, and revealing that AEW president Tony Khan personally covered the cost of his neck surgery last year.

On the question of his career path, Ospreay made clear that never being touched by WWE is a source of genuine professional pride rather than something he regrets. “I was never made by WWE. I was never touched by them. I would hold such pride and honor in knowing that someone from England who never moved away from his country was able to do that. I really hope that inspires so many of the other UK lads and lasses over there that they don’t need to compromise on their beliefs or what they want,” Ospreay said. He added, “I’m proud that I stuck to my guns. I want the responsibility of being the guy — the world champion, the main event and the guy that can be depended on.”

It was crazy,” Ospreay said. The neck surgery came after Ospreay was put out of action by the Death Riders in a storyline angle.
