John Cena has now publicly endorsed WWE NXT’s Mason Rook twice in as many weeks, going out of his way to name the newly signed heavyweight as a star to watch.
Rook, formerly known as Will Kroos on the independent scene, made his NXT debut on the April 28 episode by hitting a top-rope moonsault on NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo after entering the arena in street clothes. He officially signed his NXT contract on the May 12 episode. Cena has reacted to both appearances on X, posting the chant Rook picked up during his PROGRESS Wrestling run: “He’s BIG… He’s BAD… He’ll BODYSLAM YER DAD!!!!”
Rook responded: “Sounds so nice, the GOAT had to say it twice.”
When asked about young stars with breakout potential during an interview with CBS Sports, Cena named Rook without hesitation.
“It’s no secret I think to those in the know that I chant with everybody else, ‘He’s big, he’s bad, he’ll bodyslam your dad.’ So, if you don’t know who I’m talking about, I want you to go check that out. I’m a fan.”
Rook is 29 years old and from England. His real name is William Walker.
