Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Gunther at Clash in Italy on May 31 in Turin, with the match made official on Friday’s SmackDown after Gunther defeated Royce Keys in an impromptu number one contender’s match.
The contract segment saw Rhodes come to the ring holding the document Paul Heyman delivered last week. He demanded Gunther sign it. Gunther played games instead, asking Rhodes to say please. Keys interrupted and said if Gunther wasn’t going to sign, he would — and Nick Aldis made it a match on the spot. Gunther won, then signed the contract.
The finish of the main event saw Sikoa attempt to help Keys by introducing a steel chair, but Keys had told Sikoa earlier he didn’t want his help. Keys responded by throwing the chair directly at Sikoa’s face.
Jade Cargill also appeared and said the WWE Women’s Championship would be coming back to her at Clash in Italy, setting up an expected rematch with Rhea Ripley, though that match has not yet been officially confirmed.
