MJF has added his voice to the growing chorus of AEW names pushing for Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to sign with the promotion, calling them crazy talented and massive stars.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani, MJF was asked whether he wanted to see New Day in AEW.
“Yeah, absolutely. I don’t know what their contract situation is, but whenever they are legally allowed to come over, I think those are guys that would be incredible additions to the AEW roster. They are both crazy talented, massive stars, and guys who know their worth, which to me is the most impressive thing.”
MJF was the first AEW name to publicly react when Kingston and Woods announced their WWE departure on May 4, posting about it being a “New Day.” Fightful Select has since reported that every AEW source they have spoken to about the duo is pushing for the promotion to sign them, including several big names. Bobby Lashley has also publicly pitched them joining the Hurt Syndicate.
Kingston and Woods are both subject to 90-day non-compete clauses following their WWE exit, putting them available in late July or early August. Woods is expected to work as Austin Creed going forward.
