Tony Khan ‘Very Interested’ In New AEW July PPV — Montreal Reported As Location, Redemption As Name

Tony Khan has confirmed he is very interested in adding a new AEW pay-per-view in July 2026, saying on Thursday’s pre-Double or Nothing media call that such an event is something that could be “very lucrative and very additive.”

“I take a lot of pride in the quality of the AEW PPV shows and think we bat a very high average. We deliver great PPV events and I would only explore adding additional AEW PPV events to the calendar if I feel they are going to be additive. I think there are opportunities.”

Khan did not confirm the name Redemption, which was reported by F4W’s Andrew Zarian in April as the planned name for a July show. Fightful has separately reported that AEW is planning to host the event in Montreal, Canada. If added, it would bring AEW to ten yearly pay-per-views for the first time in the promotion’s history. AEW ran three in 2019, four in both 2020 and 2021, five in 2022, eight in 2023, and nine in both 2024 and 2025. AEW’s existing summer schedule includes Forbidden Door on June 28 in San Jose and All In at Wembley Stadium on August 30.

On the broader business picture, Khan said Double or Nothing is tracking as the biggest PPV yet in the HBO Max era. He named Kevin Knight, Speedball Mike Bailey and Willow Nightingale as the three wrestlers he sees as 2026 breakout stars. He also said he is interested in changing AEW’s start times going forward, and that he will not run another pay-per-view as late as Double or Nothing on a Sunday on the east coast again. The future of the vacated TBS Championship will be addressed after Double or Nothing.
