FTR are approaching the option year of their AEW contracts, with preliminary interest from WWE having been communicated to the team through mutual contacts, per Bodyslam.
Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler signed four-year deals with AEW in 2023, putting them now at the option year stage. Sources close to the situation describe the team as believing their value and consistency over the past several years should place them among AEW’s top-tier acts financially.
“Sources close to the situation describe FTR as believing their value and consistency over the last several years should place them among AEW’s top-tier acts financially. There has also reportedly been at least preliminary interest from WWE communicated through mutual contacts as the situation continues to draw attention internally,” Bodyslam reported.
The news comes one night after FTR lost the AEW World Tag Team Championships to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage in an I Quit Street Fight at Double or Nothing. It was their third reign with the titles. Harwood and Wheeler have previously stated they thought they would be done as full-time wrestlers by the end of this four-year AEW deal. Bryan Alvarez separately reported this week that WWE has little interest in signing outside tag teams at present and plans to rebuild the division from within and through NXT call-ups.
