AJ Styles has admitted he is struggling to adjust to life after in-ring retirement, saying on his Phenomenally Retro Podcast that figuring out his new role is easier said than done.
“I’m trying to figure this whole retirement-not retired thing. It’s a little, you know. But I have a problem with: if I have a job, I want to really do it well. And so I’m just trying to figure out all the little knick-knacks, the little things in between, to do well. Easier said than done.”
Styles retired from in-ring competition at the 2026 Royal Rumble after losing to Gunther in a career-stakes match and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2026 during WrestleMania weekend. He now works as a WWE talent scout and has been active in developing NXT prospects, including serving as a personal mentor to NXT Speed Champion Lexis King.
