Stephanie Vaquer has issued a direct and measured response to a fan who filmed and publicly posted footage of her declining an autograph request outside Madison Square Garden following Monday’s WWE Raw — an incident that took place on her birthday while she was already having a difficult day.
The Women’s World Champion addressed the situation on Twitter, making clear that her reluctance to stop for an autograph was not reflective of how she normally interacts with fans, while also firmly calling out the behavior that followed her refusal.
“I always stop and I’m very kind to my fans. Yesterday was my birthday and I was honestly having a really bad day. Even so, I politely asked for understanding, and many people respected that. But you followed me for a long time, saying hurtful things and making me feel uncomfortable. I told you no multiple times, and you kept following me and recording. And now you’re posting this on social media. It’s sad to see people like you call themselves fans,” Vaquer wrote.
Stephanie Vaquer’s Response Came After the Fan Deleted His Video and Tweet Following Backlash
The fan deleted both the video and the original tweet after the post drew significant backlash following Vaquer’s response. The incident highlights a pattern of boundary violations that WWE talent increasingly face from a minority of fans who treat public access to performers as an unconditional right regardless of circumstances or clearly communicated boundaries.
Monday night at MSG also featured a separate incident involving Liv Morgan, who was grabbed by the arm by a fan as she made her way to the ring. Morgan pulled away quickly and continued in character without breaking stride, but the moment was clearly inappropriate and out of line regardless of how smoothly she handled it in the moment. Both incidents serve as a reminder that WWE performers are people first — and that a birthday, a bad day, or simply not wanting to be touched are all entirely legitimate reasons for a performer to decline fan interaction without being followed, filmed, or physically grabbed.
