AEW Makes Several Talent Signings

The landscape of the tag team division in All Elite Wrestling has just shifted dramatically. After weeks of speculation regarding their status, The Rascalz—comprising Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, Myron Reed, and Dezmond Xavier—have officially joined the promotion. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has confirmed that the group has not only debuted but has inked multi-year deals, solidifying their place on the roster for the foreseeable future.

Contract Details and A Failed Retention Bid

According to the report, the deal has been done for some time, with the group putting pen to paper by the first week of January at the latest. Their departure from TNA Wrestling was not for a lack of trying on the promotion’s part. It was reported that TNA made a significant effort to retain the popular faction, but ultimately, AEW presented a superior financial package that the group could not turn down.

The contract situations within the group varied. Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz saw their TNA deals expire at the end of 2025, making them free agents heading into the new year. Conversely, Myron Reed and Dezmond Xavier were never under TNA contracts during this period, simplifying their transition. While the split was described as amicable, with the group feeling they left on “good terms,” reports indicate that at least one member was “determined” to leave TNA regardless of the counter-offers.

Cancelled AMC Debut and WWE’s Influence

The move to AEW had immediate ripple effects on TNA’s programming, specifically their upcoming debut on AMC. A scheduled match between Myron Reed and Leon Slater was pulled from advertising abruptly. Fightful clarified that this was not due to Reed refusing to work; in fact, he would have “happily worked that committed date.”

Instead, the cancellation appears to be collateral damage from the complex web of wrestling politics. The match was reportedly scrapped because WWE expressed interest in utilizing Leon Slater for their ongoing European tour this week. With Reed heading to AEW and Slater potentially needed by WWE, the match was removed from the card to avoid any conflicting interests or scheduling issues.

A Crowded Division Awaits Tonight

The arrival of The Rascalz comes at a pivotal moment for the AEW tag team division. Tonight, Dynamite: Maximum Carnage airs live from Phoenix, Arizona, featuring a high-stakes four-way tag team match to determine the new number one contenders. The Young Bucks, JetSpeed, Gates of Agony, and the Don Callis Family are all vying for a shot at the gold. With The Rascalz now officially in the mix, fans are already speculating if the high-flying stable will make their presence known during tonight’s broadcast or if they will target the winners of the contender’s bout as their first major feud.
