The injury appears to be centered around his shoulder, which he was seen favoring heavily while remaining on the apron. The legitimacy of the injury was further highlighted by Mysterio’s non-involvement in the post-match segment. The script called for The Vision to lay out Mysterio’s allies, Dragon Lee and Penta, in a display of dominance ahead of the Royal Rumble. While Lee and Penta took their bumps, Mysterio did not participate in the physical altercation, remaining on the sidelines with trainers. This is a devastating blow for the legendary luchador, who had only just returned to action in November following a groin injury. His return had sparked a resurgence in his feud with his son Dominik and placed him firmly in the mix against the top heels on the red brand.

The timing could not be worse for Mysterio. With the Royal Rumble taking place this Saturday in Saudi Arabia, his status for the event is now in serious doubt.
