Since making her surprise return to WWE at the 2023 Royal Rumble, Chelsea Green has transformed herself into one of the most entertaining acts on the roster. Known for her comedic “Karen” persona, Green has found championship success with two Women’s United States Title reigns and a run with the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championships. In a new interview with The National News, Green opened up about her journey and the creative process that helped her find her niche.
Green credited her character work as the key to her longevity this time around. “I quickly realized when I got back to WWE that my niche and what made me special was my character work, so that’s what I want to be remembered for,” she said. She also praised the collaborative nature of the WWE writing team, noting that the “machine” behind her helps keep the character fresh and entertaining every week.
When asked about a potential on-screen reunion with her real-life husband Matt Cardona, Green was surprisingly indifferent, stating she loves her current trajectory and wouldn’t want to ruin it just for the sake of working together. She did, however, have a specific vision for her ultimate dream match. “It would be a triple threat match in Canada. Me versus Nattie versus Trish Stratus,” she revealed. With her character stronger than ever, a showdown with fellow Canadians Natalya and Trish Stratus isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
