When The Bloodline saga was gaining steam, Cody Rhodes was on the outside looking in—and he admits the view was intimidating. Rhodes, who was with AEW when the storyline began, reunited with his former rival Jey Uso on this week’s episode of the What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast.
During the conversation, Rhodes credited the faction for being a “massive” part of WWE’s recent business explosion, noting that its popularity eclipsed everything else in the wrestling world.
“I was away trying to turn heads with what I was doing, and it’s very hard to do that when the Tribal Chief is becoming a thing, when the Ula Fala is becoming a thing, all of that,” Rhodes confessed.
Jey Uso reflected on the “Cinema” of the saga, pinpointing Roman Reigns’ in-ring trash talk as a key factor in keeping the audience engaged post-pandemic. “Him talking, like, just elevated the product more… And when the people got back, I felt like we have to keep some of that style.”
As for the future? Jey Uso believes the book isn’t closed yet. “It’s still alive,” Uso said. “I don’t think it’s dead.”
