Jey Uso believes the life he’s living as a wrestler now is a far cry from the brutal existence of the generations that came before him. Joining Cody Rhodes on a new episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About?, the current World Tag Team Champion discussed the perspective he has gained by watching his father, Rikishi.
“Just being a wrestler now, and I know today it’s an easier hustle,” Uso said, clarifying that while the job is still difficult, the physical toll is different. “I think when my dad was coming up though, man, he went through the wringer. He’s still alive today. He’s healthy… My dad is our biggest fan, though.”
Rhodes agreed, pointing out that the financial landscape has improved drastically. “It’s certainly not the bumping each night and the lighter envelopes, because the money and economy was different for wrestling then,” Rhodes noted. However, he added that the trade-off is a heavier load of corporate responsibilities. “We’re navigating a new hustle.”
Uso is currently enjoying the fruits of that hustle, having reunited with his twin brother Jimmy to hold the World Tag Team Championships following his successful singles run in 2025.
